[CAVIE-ACCI] As part of its series of meetings entitled “At the heart of influence”, the SKEMA PUBLIKA think tank is giving the floor this October 2023 to Guy Gweth, President of the African Centre for Competitive Intelligence (ACCI). This high-profile meeting will be held at the Cercle de l’Union Interalliée on the reality of the economic Francophonie.
According to this young and influential French think tank, “history has shown that language and influence/power share a complex bond. Today, the number of French speakers around the world is fast increasing. From 312 million in 2022, the most optimistic forecasts estimate that this number will reach 600 million by 2050. However, in terms of politics, economics, culture and education, will the Francophonie remain a vector of influence for France? Does it need a fresh breeze?
Alongside Guy Gweth, who will decipher the current and future critical issues facing the economic Francophonie, Claude Revel, Director of Development at SKEMA PUBLIKA and Interministerial Delegate for Business Intelligence (2013-2015), is gathering top ranking experts to address these questions and related issues, in a bid to put forward strong proposals capable of shaking things up.
They are:
- Frédéric Munier, Associate Professor of History and Director of the Geopolitics School at Skema Business School ;
- Claudine Lepage, former Senator for French Nationals Abroad;
- Clarisse Gérardin, deputy director of French language and education at the Department of Influential Diplomacy at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- Daniel Zielinski, Secretary General of the Interministerial Group “French, the language of sport and Olympism in France and throughout the world”.
Created in February 2022, SKEMA PUBLIKA’s mission is to anticipate and reflect on future societal and geopolitical shifts. Its approach is to spot early warning signs, anticipate and make recommendations for the “aftermath”. The institution adopts a multidisciplinary and hybrid approach to information processing, combining human and digital intelligence. Operating on five continents and employing hundreds of researchers, SKEMA PUBLIKA feeds public discourse and makes recommendations to national and international decision-makers around the world.
Guy Gweth is a member of the House of Public Affairs at Dauphine-PSL and a recognised expert in African market intelligence, a graduate of the Simone Veil Executive Doctorate in Public Affairs at the same university. He is also the founder and coordinator of the Festival de l’intelligence économique francophone (FIEF), whose second edition (FIEF2023) will take place on 02 November 2023 in Yaoundé. The event falls on the side-lines of the 44th session of the Conference of Ministers of La Francophonie on 03-04-05 November.
